| 9639 | Family story is that after William's Mother died in 1881, William who was only about 11yrs of age, went to live with an Aunt. This Aunt most likely may have been his actual cousin Helen Wilson who was married to Thomas Shaw. Helen's Mother was Helen Stewart sister to William's Mother Margaret. Due to Helen Stewart having married Andrew Watt who was a widower in 1879 and they then lived in Midlothian and that Helen was helping with bringing up his children, it is uncertain if William was cared for by her. The fact that young children went to work around the age of 11/13, means that William most likely started his working life in the Coal Mining industry at a very young age. | Simpson, William (I406)
|
| 9640 | Family Trees are showing that Stephen Kimber was jailed for 2yrs for larceny in 1821. There is also another record for the Stephen Kimber in 1825 being sent for transportation for 7yrs.
