  	TEMPLE At 64 Stevenson Street (the residence of his son in law), on the 28th ult. William Temple, aged 85, for 45 years church officer, Calton United Free Church.
  Research Note	William's occupation was a Cotton Hand Loom Weaver or Woollen Weaver through to the 1861 Census. Then by the 1871 Census his occupation has changed to Warper, but his children still remain in the Cotton Weaving industry. Warper: worked in the textile industry responsible for loading a thread called 'warp' onto looms, or a boat hauler at a docks, port or canal basin. Warping machines have been invented to provide solutions for gauging yarn strength, length measurement and count measurement. Just like a sewing machine, warping machinery is manually operated for preparing leas yarn. Additionally, the machine is made available in two model options: the metric and the imperial system. Seems that William changed the type of thread he was weaving and may have started to use machinary to make it. By the 1881 Census it appears he has taken a major role in the Church by becoming a Church Officer. And on his death certificate he is listed just as a Church Officer. It does not say what church he was involved in but may not have been the Established or Free Church of Scotland as I cannot locate the baptism details of his children.
