- A D Cairns Dead
Well Known Jeweler Succumbes to Apoplexy in Hartford.
Alexander D Cairns, the well-known jeweller, died suddenly of apoplexy in Hartord. Sunday afternoon, while on a business trip to that city. Mr Cairns had been in rather delicate health for some time, but his death was unexpected.
Mr Cairns was born in Langham, Scotland, 45 years ago, and had been a resident of this country 22 years. He was a draftsman by trade, and worked at that business in a South Boston machine shop for five years. Seventeen years ago he engaged in the jewellery business in which he amassed a comfortable fortune. He was well-known in and about newspaper row.
He was a member of many secret orders and other societies, among them the Masons, the British charitable society, Victorian club, Boston athletic association, and the Scots charitable society. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He lived at 171 Townsend St, Roxbury, and leaves a wife and two children. The funeral will be held at his residence tomorrow at 2.30pm.
